Third Annual Archaeology Night at SOHS Hanley Farm!

Spend an evening being amateur archaeologists while learning about Oregon's archaeological history! August 14, the Southern Oregon Historical Society partners with the Southern Oregon University Laboratory of Anthropology (SOULA), the Medford Bureau of Land Management (BLM), Crater Rock Museum, and the Oregon Chinese Diaspora Project for our third annual “Archaeology Night.” at SOHS Hanley Farm.

There will be Archaeology 101 activities, including: artifact cross-mending, build-your-own stratigraphy jars, compass-reading, try your hand at the ancient art of atlatl throwing, or test your animal bone knowledge with our “Faunal Matching” game. Hear about the latest finds from this summer’s “Public Archaeology and Remote Sensing” field school, and enjoy the pop-up exhibit about the award-winning Oregon Chinese Diaspora Project. These FREE, fun, family-centered events will get you thinking, and acting, like a real archaeologist!
