The Pool & Splash Pad Attendant will perform a range of duties related to the operation of pool systems and pool chemical testing including: 

  • Daily preparation of swimming pools and splash pads.
  • Assuring pools and splash pads are functional during all hours of operation.
  • Assisting Building Utility Technicians on swimming pool and splash pad operation and repair; as well as general building maintenance repairs; and working out of the department maintenance shop on special projects.
  • Restoring the correct water levels and chemical balance for pools and splash pads.

Required Education and Experience:

  • Graduation from high school or GED equivalent; and
  • Must be 18 years of age by date of hire.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certifications for:
    • Aquatics Facility Operator
    • Certified Pool Operator
  • Working knowledge of pool maintenance.
  • General knowledge of building maintenance and plumbing.

Additional Eligibility Requirements:

  • Ability and desire to learn aquatic systems and chemical testing procedures associated with pool and splash pad systems. 
  • Ability to work independently without continuous supervision. 
  • Ability to operate pressure washers, back-pack leaf blowers, and pool vacuum equipment. 
  • Ability to perform physical labor safely in all types of local weather. 
  • Ability to work with and around the public in a positive manner.
  • Good attention to detail.  
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions. 
  • Possession of a valid driver’s license by date of hire. New employees establishing resident status in the State of Oregon must obtain an Oregon driver’s license within 30 days (ORS 807.020 (1)).
  • Ability to maintain an acceptable driving record throughout employment.


Available Schedule: 

  • Thursday - Monday, 7:30 AM - 4:00 PM

The anticipated hiring range for the position is $15.74 (first step) to $16.53 (second step).  Directly related experience and qualifications will be evaluated alongside others who perform work of comparable character as required by Pay Equity Law. Three steps are included in this salary range, allowing opportunity for annual movement through the steps.
