Required Education and Experience:

  • Graduation from high school or GED equivalent; and
  • Four (4) years of progressively responsible experience in principles, policies, and practices of office administration.
  • Bachelor’s degree in business management, business administration, public administration, or other specific area of study as deemed applicable may substitute for two (2) years of experience.
Available Schedule: 
  • Part-time flexibility; preferred schedule is Monday–Thursday, 6 hours per day.
Compensation & Information on Benefits:

The anticipated hiring range for the part-time Administrative Support Technician position is $24.56 (first step) to $25.79 or $27.08 (second or third step). The City of Medford determines starting pay based on an evaluation of relevant education, experience, and qualifications as provided by the applicant in their application materials, alongside others who perform work of comparable character consistent with the Oregon Equal Pay Act. Three steps are included in this salary range, allowing opportunity for annual movement through the steps.

Examples of Job Duties:
Essential Functions of the Position:
  • Responds to requests for information from the general public, internal departments, and employees, including making/receiving phone calls, letter and email correspondence, and customer service interaction.
  • Performs administrative duties, processing mail, filing, processes training requests, travel expenses, etc.
  • Uses office equipment, computers, software and programs effectively and efficiently.
  • Produces and distributes documents, extracts and compiles data for reports, processes records.
  • Uses prescribed procedures to process, distribute, record and destroy sensitive information and records; maintains and coordinates records retention activities.
  • Verifies employee’s scheduled hours, time off, and overtime; provides hours to the payroll department for timely processing.
  • Oversees various financial responsibilities, including purchase card processing and petty cash.  
  • Acts as the technology liaison, including database management.
  • Dispatches service requests. 
  • Prepares and schedules meetings with staff,   prepares and distributes agendas, attends meetings, takes and distributes minutes, etc.
  • Supports/assists Director or other staff with: special events, projects, requests for proposals, capital improvements, comprehensive spreadsheets, public outreach, etc.
  • Creates, processes and tracks contracts.  Acts as liaison with contractors to assist with City, State and/or Federal processes.
  • Distributes moratorium notifications.
  • May be required to drive to attend off-site meetings and run various errands.
  • The scope of the assigned area will depend on the departmental structure and is as the discretion of the department director.
