The City of Medford is recruiting for seven Firefighter/EMT positions. We seek dedicated individuals to join our esteemed firefighting team at Medford Fire. 1. Graduation from high school or GED equivalent.
2. Be a minimum of 21 years of age by hire date.
3. Possession of an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) Certification or higher by date of application.
   • A copy must be attached to your application.
4. Possession of a Firefighter 1 certification from IFSAC/NFPA/DPSST/Pro Board or any state or nationally accredited certifying body by date of application.
   • A copy must be attached to your application.
5. Successfully complete and pass the four-part National Testing Network (NTN) process - see more information in Supplemental Information section below.
   1. FireTEAM Exam
   2. Public Safety Self-Assessment (PSSA)
   3. Six (6) Question Virtual Interview
   4. NTN Personal History Questionnaire

• Successful completion of a background investigation to the satisfaction of the City.
• Meet the physical qualifications and pass medical and psychological exam and drug screen prior to appointment.
• Requires possession of a valid driver’s license by date of hire. New employees establishing resident status in the State of Oregon must obtain an Oregon driver’s license within 30 days of hire.
• Ability to maintain an acceptable driving record throughout employment.

Additionally, pay differentials for advanced EMT certifications are available as follows:

• Advanced 2%
• Intermediate 5%
• Paramedic 9.5%

Note: Additional details related to certification pay, PERS, or other additional pays can be found in the labor agreement, which will be effective through June 30, 2026.
