- Graduation from high school or GED equivalent.
- Be a minimum of 21 years of age by hire date.
- Possession of an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) Certification or higher by date of application.
- A copy must be attached to your application.
- Possession of a Firefighter 1 certification from IFSAC/NFPA/DPSST/Pro Board or any state or nationally accredited certifying body by date of application.

- Successfully complete and pass the four-part National Testing Network (NTN) process - see more information in Supplemental Information section below.
- FireTEAM Exam
- Public Safety Self-Assessment (PSSA)
- Six (6) Question Virtual Interview
- NTN Personal History Questionnaire
- Successful completion of a background investigation to the satisfaction of the City.
- Meet the physical qualifications and pass medical and psychological exam and drug screen prior to appointment.
- Requires possession of a valid driver’s license by date of hire. New employees establishing resident status in the State of Oregon must obtain an Oregon driver’s license within 30 days of hire.
- Ability to maintain an acceptable driving record throughout employment.
