Are you someone who enjoys working outdoors and helping keep your community beautiful? We’re looking for a dedicated, hands-on team player to join us as a Tree & Landscape Laborer with the City of Medford’s Parks & Recreation Department.
In this role, you'll assist the City Arborist with maintaining our vibrant urban forest—pruning, planting, chipping, watering, and caring for trees across our city parks and right-of-way areas. You'll operate equipment like mowers, chippers, and stump grinders, and play a key part in keeping our parks clean, safe, and welcoming.

Required Education and Experience:
- Graduation from high school or GED equivalent; and
- Must be 18 years of age.
- Experience with tree pruning
- Experience running chainsaws and woodchippers
Available Schedule:
- Monday - Wednesday, 6:00 AM - 2:30 PM
The anticipated hiring range for the Tree and Landscape Laborer position is $18.36 (first step) to $19.28 or $20.24 (second or third step). The City of Medford determines starting pay based on an evaluation of relevant education, experience, and qualifications as provided by the applicant in their application materials, alongside others who perform work of comparable character consistent with the Oregon Equal Pay Act. Three steps are included in this salary range, allowing opportunity for annual movement through the steps.

- Responsible for tree maintenance, pruning, hand weeding, watering, and chipping debris.
- Ability to operate handheld and gas-powered equipment.
- Operate various equipment to include riding mowers, chippers, stump grinders, and tractors.
- Perform landscape and equipment maintenance.
- Work in Right of Way areas.
- Assist in herbicide application.
- Assist Park staff in a variety of daily tasks or special projects.
- Perform labor safely in all types of weather.
- Prepare and read simple reports and field diagrams.
- Work with minimum supervision while performing daily tasks.
- Follow oral, written, and drawn instructions.
- Relate to the public in a positive respectful manner.
- Must be honest and truthful in all tasks and responsibilities.
- Adheres to safety practices and standards when performing all duties.
