The City of Medford’s Parks & Recreation Department is looking for a dynamic Youth/Adult Art Instructor to lead engaging, hands-on art classes at the Santo Community Center. In this part-time, year-round role, you’ll design and deliver developmentally appropriate lessons that introduce students to a variety of artistic materials, techniques, and concepts.


Whether you specialize in painting, mixed media, or sculpture, your creativity and teaching skills will help foster artistic growth and confidence in students of all ages.

Required Education and Experience:

  • Graduation from high school or GED equivalent; and
  • Four (4) years of experience in recreational activities, sports, and/or childcare; experience must demonstrate responsibility and customer service.
  • One (1) year of college level course work in recreation or childcare can substitute for one (1) year of the required experience.
Available Schedule: 

Class schedules are based on instructor availability and facility space. Afternoon and evening classes are preferred, with a preference for scheduling Monday–Thursday:

  • Afternoon and evening availability is strongly preferred
  • Most classes take place at the Santo Community Center
  • Final schedule will be determined based on space availability and instructor flexibility
Compensation & Information on Benefits:

The anticipated hiring range for the Recreation Specialist position is $22.49 (first step) to $23.62 or $25.00 (second or third step). The City of Medford determines starting pay based on an evaluation of relevant education, experience, and qualifications as provided by the applicant in their application materials, alongside others who perform work of comparable character consistent with the Oregon Equal Pay Act. Three steps are included in this salary range, allowing opportunity for annual movement through the steps. 

Compensation Update: Effective July 1, 2025, this range will increase to $23.05 (first step), $24.21 (second step), and $25.50 (third step).
