Looking for hands-on work where you can see the impact of what you do every day? Join the City of Medford’s Public Works team as a Public Works Technician in Sewer Collection Maintenance and help maintain the essential infrastructure that keeps our community running.
In this role, you’ll be part of a skilled team responsible for maintaining, inspecting, repairing, and replacing the City’s sewer collection system. Your days may include operating construction equipment, working on underground utilities, maintaining sewer piping and pump stations, responding to sewer emergencies, and performing confined-space work.
We’re especially interested in candidates who bring experience with construction equipment, utility maintenance and repair, underground utilities, or pumping equipment and who enjoy working outdoors as part of a team.

Required Education and Experience:
- Graduation from high school or GED equivalent; and
- Two (2) years of equipment operation, general construction, maintenance experience, or combination to successfully perform the duties of the job.
- Completion of a one (1) year Construction Technology certificate program may substitute for one (1) year of experience.
- Knowledge of applicable state and local vehicle ordinances; weight limit capacities; civil construction and maintenance practices; occupational hazards and related safety precautions; etc.
- Possession of a Class A Oregon Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with a tanker endorsement or the ability to obtain CDL and tanker endorsement within one year of hire date.
- New employees establishing resident status in the State of Oregon must obtain an Oregon driver’s license within 30 days (ORS 807.020 (1)).
- Maintaining a CDL is a condition of employment.
- Ability to maintain acceptable driving record throughout employment.
- Must be a minimum of 18 years old by time of hire.
- Must live within a 60-minute response time from the City's Service Center located at 821 N. Columbus Ave.
- Wastewater Collections System Operator certification.
- Experience in repair, replacement, or maintenance of piped utility systems.
- Previous public works experience.
- Certified flagger, TCT, and TCS
- Experience with traffic control.
- First Aid and CPR certified.
- Experience operating heavy equipment including: excavators, backhoes, graders, and paving equipment.
- Monday - Thursday, 10-hour shifts
