We’re looking for confident, strong swimmers who enjoy working with people and want to be part of the Aquatics team at Rogue X. As a Swim Instructor/Lifeguard, you’ll teach swim lessons to participants of all ages and skill levels while helping create a safe, welcoming environment during open swim, lap swim, rentals, and special events. You’ll also participate in ongoing safety training and gain valuable experience working with the community. Scheduling Requirements:
- Schedule may vary Monday through Friday and may include mornings, afternoons, and evenings.
- Weekend availability may also be required.
- Position will not exceed 24 hours per week.
- Graduation from High School or have GED equivalent; or are currently enrolled in High School or equivalent and on track for graduation.
- Must be 15 years or older at time of hire.
- American Red Cross Lifeguard certification, or a comparable lifeguard certification eligible for American Red Cross crossover training (e.g., Starfish Aquatics Institute/StarGuard, YMCA, or Ellis & Associates).
- If not currently certified, training will be provided for selected candidates.

- Conducts swim lesson classes for various ages and skill levels.
- Evaluates swim participants at the end of each season.
- Lifeguards during open swims, lap swims, aquatic rentals, and special events.
- Enforces safety regulations in a professional, friendly manner.
- Follows emergency action plan in the event of an emergency.
- Provides emergency care/treatment as required until the arrival of emergency medical services.
- Performs hourly pool water chemical tests.
- Assists patrons with putting on life jackets.
- Attends and participates in all staff trainings and meetings.
- Assists in the clean-up of the entire pool facility and locker rooms
- Cautions and educates swimmers against dangerous situations.
- Is proficient with the emergency procedures and department policies at the aquatic center.
- Relates to the public in a positive manner.
- Adheres to safety practices and standards when performing all duties.
