This role is a great opportunity for an experienced transportation engineering professional who enjoys a mix of leadership, technical review, planning, and problem solving. The Transportation Manager oversees the City’s Traffic Engineering Section and plays an important role in transportation planning, signal operations, development review, traffic safety, and long-range system improvements.
The selected candidate will work closely with City staff, regional partners, consultants, developers, contractors, and community members on projects that directly impact mobility, safety, and quality of life in Medford. With the City beginning a major update to its Transportation System Plan, this is an exciting time to bring your expertise, leadership, and vision to the Public Works team.

Required Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or GED equivalent; and
- Five (5) years of progressive experience in transportation engineering or transportation planning with two (2) of those years in a supervisory or leadership position.
- Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, transportation engineering, transportation planning, or other specific area of study as deemed applicable may substitute for two (2) years of experience.
- Valid, current Driver’s License and safe driving record
- Oregon Professional Engineer License
- 8 hours daily, Monday - Friday
- Opportunity for alternate schedule after the first 90-days:
- 9-80 (nine-hour workdays with a three-day weekend every other week)
- Teleworking up to 1 day per week
